The club is accessed via a 5" step, the club bar area is all on one level and wheelchair friendly.

The club is situated on the hillside at the bottom of the golf course and can only be reached by a stony uneven path. Because of the inaccessibility before the clubhouse, no further investigations have been made.

The club stands on the Castleholm overlooking the cricket pitch and can only be accessed via rough uneven ground. Difficult access before reaching the clubhouse, no further investigations have been made.

Langholm Old Town Bowling Club

bowling green and clubhouse which overlooks it can be accessed with assistance via a ramp that has a 5” step to negotiate. There is also an alternative route down the side of the tennis courts, through a gate and on to the bowling green perimeter pathway.

The bowling green can only be accessed via a wrought iron gate which is just wide enough for a wheelchair to go through.

Eskdale Hotel

The main door entrance is accessed via a 3" step and through a half-glazed door that opens inwards to lead to reception.

The residential accommodation area is accessed via a flight of stairs which turn 90° at the half-way point.
If management is informed that a disabled person is to be a resident, they will make arrangements for them and their wheelchair to be carried upstairs.

The cocktail bar leads off from the foyer and there is limited room to manoeuvre a wheelchair.

The Gents' toilet in the small corridor adjoining the foyer, has a door too narrow for a wheelchair to squeeze through.

The Ladies' toilet is accessed via a door off the foyer. The door opens inwards. Neither toilet is suitable for disabled use having had no adaptions done to them.

Crown Hotel

Access entering the front door is gained via a single 4" step that leads to the half-glazed door that opens inwards. Residential accommodation is accessed via a flight of stairs which turn 90° at the half-way point.
There is no lift in hotel.

To the left of the foyer, the lounge bar is accessed via a fully-glazed door that opens inwards. Limited room to manoeuvre inside.

The public bar's external entrance is accessed via a low step and through narrow double doors, these can be opened if access is required. Room for wheelchair to manoeuvre inside.

The diningroom is up the first flight of stairs, but bar meals are obtainable in the downstairs cocktail bar.

Both bars can be exited into the foyer and use the same toilets. The Gents' toilet is located to the right side of the foyer, immediately before the hotel's rear entrance, Ladies' to the left of the foyer.
Both toilets are inaccessible by wheelchair nor have any disabled adaptions.

The main entrance is gained via a 4" step that leads through a half-glazed door that opens inwards. The residential accommodation is accessed by a flight of steep stairs. There is no lift in hotel.

Access to the public bar is gained via a 5" step and a half-glazed door which opens inwards. The available floor space is only 12 ft x 4ft.

No access to toilets due to 2 x 5" steps that are to be negotiated.

Douglas Hotel

Access to accommodation area is gained via the front door which has a single 4" step which leads into hotel lobby, then a steep flight of stairs that turn 90° around the ¾ way mark. To access the public bar from the lobby would be most difficult owing to 2 x 6" carpeted steps going downwards. Access to the public bar from the street is gained via a single 4" step then via a partly paned door that opens inwards.

Impossible access for wheelchairs.

Reiver's Rest Guest House

The restaurant has level access from the pavement and will accommodate a wheelchair user who requires a meal or refreshment.

The toilets are a totally different proposition and are located on a slightly higher level which requires a 5" step to be negotiated. The toilet access door is a push-pull type that is too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair. A narrow passage leads to the toilet area which is very cramped.

No easy access to toilets and no purpose built disabled toilets or adaptions.

Corner Café

The café area is accessed by a 2” step and is extremely restricted in space for turning a wheelchair once access has been gained. The café has no customer toilets, only the downstairs household toilet which is situated just inside the premises' rear door. It is not disabled friendly.
No accessible toilets on premises.

Whitshiels Café

Primarily a tourist and transport café ½ mile out of town on A7 northbound. Access is difficult owing to a single 5” step and double doors to be negotiated to enter the service area. Toilets are located outside the café premises. The key will be given to customers wishing to use them on request. Key must be returned immediately after use.
No Disabled toilet facilities or adaptions, however Roy the proprietor will always lend a hand at lifting a customer and their wheelchair into the premises when required.

The uni-sex toilet is incorporated into a public toilet building situated on the Kilngreen, a parking area at the north side of town. R.A.D.A.R keys are required to open the toilet as there is no attendant present.

(Keys may be purchased on WEEKDAYS at the Town Hall @ £2.75 each)
